Strength in the Waiting
Saturday, June 13, 2026
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 40:31
There are seasons in life when God seems silent — when the answer we've been praying for hasn't come, when the breakthrough feels distant, and when our strength begins to waver. Isaiah 40:31 speaks directly into those moments.
The word "hope" here in Hebrew is "qavah" — it means to wait with expectation, to twist together like a cord, to be bound to. This is not passive waiting. It is active, faith-filled expectation that God is working even when we cannot see it.
Notice the progression: soar, run, walk. We might expect it to go the other way — but God meets us where we are. Sometimes faith looks like soaring. Sometimes it looks like simply putting one foot in front of the other without fainting.
Today, whatever season you are in — trust that your waiting is not wasted. God is renewing your strength even now.
Lord, in this season of waiting, renew my strength. Help me to hope in You — not in circumstances, not in outcomes, but in Your unchanging character. Teach me to soar when I can, to run when I must, and to simply walk when that is all I have. You are faithful. Amen.
